Quartz Composer is a technology developed by Apple Inc. It brings together a rich set of graphical and nongraphical technologies, including Quartz 2D, Core Image, Core Video, OpenGL, QuickTime, MIDI System Services and Real Simple Syndication (RSS).
It’s also easily extensible through public API making it possible to port libraries like OpenCV to Quartz Composer (alternatively you can use great Kineme’s CV Tools plugin which is more mature at the moment).
If this is the first time you’re here I’d recommend using Apple’s Safari browser on your Mac (so you can play and manipulate compositions from the browser) and go through compositions like this one
At the bottom of each composition you’ll find a download link, you can grab qtz file and experiment with it using Quartz Composer. If you don’t have it yet, there is a very long guide on how to install Quartz Composer
To try something more advanced go straight to plugins section and grab one or two. Together with the download link you will find instructions on how to get it running on your machine.
Don’t hesitate to contact me directly via e-mail. You may also want to follow us on Twitter @quartzcomposer
Enjoy,
Mirek
